What is indoor skydiving?

Indoor skydiving, also known as bodyflying, is a sport in which you can experience the feeling of freefall without having to jump out of an airplane. You are in a vertical wind tunnel that generates a strong upward airflow. This keeps you in the air and allows you to perform various flight maneuvers. Flying in a wind tunnel is a safe way to experience the thrill of skydiving without having to jump from a height.

“Brilliant experience. A carefree afternoon with action, new experiences, good-humored company, exciting entertainment and a delicious culinary finale. […]” Rambo K.

Is indoor skydiving dangerous?

The risk of injury in indoor skydiving is low compared to other sports. The few accidents that do occur are usually due to carelessness or clumsy behavior and fortunately only result in minor injuries or bruises. Strict adherence to safety standards and protocols in the indoor skydiving facility ensures that the risk of accidents is reduced to a minimum. In short: minimum risk with maximum fun!

Safety first! In flight operations, the safety of our customers and our own safety is our top priority.” Tobias, CEO Windwerk

What are the requirements for bodyflying?

The good news is that indoor skydiving requires no special prior knowledge or skills. It is a sport for people of all ages and fitness levels. You don’t need to have any skydiving experience to enjoy indoor skydiving. Our instructors will brief you thoroughly before the flight. However, there are some basic requirements:

  • The minimum age for us is 5 years. There are no upper limits. We regularly have senior citizens as passengers. Our oldest participant was over 90 years young ;-).
  • Health: You should be physically fit. If you have any health concerns, it is best to talk to a doctor beforehand, especially if you have previously damaged shoulder joints. If you are pregnant, you should not go into the wind tunnel under any circumstances.
  • Weight restriction: We are sorry, but people who weigh more than 120 kg are not allowed in the wind tunnel. Why? Supporting and “moving” heavy people in the airflow is physically very strenuous. We want to protect our instructors from this.

“It was a great experience for the whole family! Thank you very much for the experience. 😊” Tabea Z.

How long does a flight in the wind tunnel take?

The flight duration of 60 seconds may seem short at first glance, but there are good reasons for this. When you fly in a wind tunnel, your cardiovascular system is stimulated and you will probably be out of breath after the first flight. This is exacerbated by the (possible) nervousness. The muscle groups, especially in the middle of the body, that you activate when flying are normally rarely used and therefore tire quickly. You use your arms and legs to balance and maneuver your body in the air column, which is quite strenuous. Fun fact: In a parachute jump from a height of 4,000 meters, the freefall lasts around 45 seconds.

“The flight probably always feels too short, but it’s also a good way to get a feel for your body – or not. Maik M.

How often can you fly?

There are usually at least two flights per person. We recommend four flights to fully enjoy the experience and fly your first flight maneuvers. Experience has shown that the learning curve is steepest at the beginning of your “flying career”.

“I had four flights, which was just right for me. Each time I got less nervous and more fun. The last one was a cab flight with an instructor, which was really cool.” Mel G.

Is it possible to fly as a group?

You can come alone or with a partner, friend, family, children, colleagues, … We have special offers for individuals, two people, groups, companies and sports pilots. In the wind tunnel itself, you always fly accompanied by an instructor. You can only fly in the wind tunnel with others if you are a professional flyer.

“[…] An ingenious experience for young and old, whether you want to leave the burdens of everyday life behind with a short flight or whether it’s pure curiosity. A team or family event can become an unforgettable moment here and lead to a great experience. I can only recommend it to everyone.” Michel R.
