There are many good reasons to become a Proflyer. As a professional flyer, you can let off steam creatively and develop your own style – alone or in a team. You also do something for your fitness and learn to control your body better. The indoor skydiving community is like a big family and supports each other. You can take part in team competitions and celebrate a great sport together with others.

How do I become a Proflyer?

With our Flight School, we have the perfect training program for you, no matter how young (but at least five years old) or old you are. Not only do we provide you with all the equipment you need, but we also support you with all our experience. In four intensive training sessions, each with 15 minutes of pure flying time, you will learn how to fly on your stomach in all directions and do your first exercises for inverted flight – an absolute adrenaline rush! After each flight, you will go through the video analysis with your coach and keep a flight log together. Our aim is to see you flying safely and independently in our wind tunnel. After completing the Flight School, you will receive the coveted Proflyer status. Then you are guaranteed to be infected by the Proflyer virus. Click here for the Flight School.

How can I improve my skills?

Nothing works without training! But here too, we are passionate about helping you. In our skills camps you can train together with other professional flyers and multiply your flying time. In addition to flying, team spirit and fun are also top priorities. We regularly hire internationally renowned top coaches for our tunnel camps – a unique opportunity to take your skills to the next level! And if you want to get even more out of yourself, you can book our Windwerk instructors for your flight time at any time. They will help you to define your own personal priorities and then train them properly in the wind tunnel.

What is the best way to plan my training sessions?

When it comes to planning training times, we sometimes face real logistical challenges. Professional flyers who train with us and are active in very different disciplines regularly use the wind tunnel facility for 30-minute sessions. Coordination between the dynamic flyers and the formation teams is particularly tricky. You can read about the solutions we offer for a good distribution of flight times in this blog post.

What disciplines are there in indoor skydiving?

There are several exciting disciplines that require different skills, techniques, dexterity, creativity and teamwork.

  • Formation Skydiving (FS): Teams of 4 or 8 people perform predefined formations in a horizontal position as quickly as possible.
  • Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS): Similar to FS in teams of 2 or 4, but the athletes fly in vertical positions (head-up and head-down elements with transitions) at higher speeds.
  • Dynamic: This discipline is about flying three fixed flight sequences quickly in the Speedrounds variant and about artistic and freely customizable performance without exceeding the limits in the Freeroutine variant. Flying takes place in teams of 2 or 4 people.
  • Freestyle: The Proflyer performs a self-composed choreography (freeroutine).

Are there competitions in indoor skydiving?

There are national and international competitions. They take place all over the world and attract the best athletes. The best-known competitions are organized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). In March of this year, we hosted the Swiss Indoor Skydiving Championships at Windwerk, and our instructor Lena took part in the 3rd FAI European Indoor Skydiving Championships and the 5th FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving. You can read here how well she did there. We will be happy to answer your questions about the current regulations for the various flying disciplines, how to find the best coach or team partner and what support is available from the Swiss association (Swiss Skydive).
