5 years of Windwerk and Christmas – there has been no opportunity in the last few weeks to look back on 2023 in peace and quiet. Instead, we are now taking the time to ask: What did we toast, achieve and celebrate in 2023?

We kicked things off with the launch of our casual Windwerk lifestyle merchandise. True to the motto “NEVER STOP FLYING”, we have designed cool T-shirts and caps that convey the feeling and dynamics of flying as well as the Windwerk spirit. The T-shirts and caps have become our loyal companions. From Sweden to Bali, they have conquered the whole world. The Windwerk family is everywhere!

In March, we experienced two turbulent days with fantastic athletes at the Swiss Championships 2023 in Sion. The competitions were first-class and gave everyone a real shake-up. Of course, we were especially rooting for our teams. We are extremely proud of our youngsters in indoor skydiving, Sina and Robin from SIRO-Gravity. For their first competition in the Dynamic 2-Way category, they put in a great performance and were also able to score points against older teams. Our team Twig and Stump (Sandro and Martin) achieved a strong second place in the Dynamic 2-Way (CH classification) and are therefore Swiss runners-up. Jonathan and Dazio (Team Lost in Rotation) achieved second place in the Formation 2-Way category (CH classification).

A few weeks later, the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship took place in Slovakia. The best of the best indoor skydivers in the world made the wind tunnel glow for four days. Afterwards it was clear: the runners-up in the Dynamic 4-Way World Championships come from Switzerland!

In the summer, we were once again able to secure the Swiss Location Award 2023 with the highest number of points among the experience locations as an “Outstanding Location”. Thanks to the great participation of our customers and fans in the voting, together we managed to receive this fantastic award.

Some things take a lot of preparation and time. We are very keen to do our bit for the environment and reduce our CO2 footprint. As a wind tunnel with a powerful turbine, this is admittedly not easy. We already use the waste heat generated for heating and hot water. As a next step, we have initiated the installation of a photovoltaic system.

The next competition was already scheduled for the fall: The Windwerk Dynamic Cup. Here, various teams and competitors were able to show what they can do in the Solo Speed and Dynamic 2-Way disciplines. Lots of goosebump moments, tingling excitement, a very badly damaged mattress (aha!?) and the chilled atmosphere in the Windwerk ensured an exuberant atmosphere and the best conditions for competition. If you want to know more, you can read about it here and look it up here.

The crowning glory of the year was our 5th anniversary. We could hardly believe that so much time had passed since the opening. “In the beginning, this was just a dream,” said Tobias Oertle, co-initiator and Managing Director of Windwerk. It took a fair amount of courage to realize such a big project, and the path from then to now has been marked by luck, fuck-ups and many changes. In any case, we really let it rip on December 8th. Watch here!

Of course, it only works with a team that shows outstanding commitment every day to get a program like this up and running, to run daily operations properly and to develop and implement further projects. And with the support of our customers and fans, who motivate us to always give our best.

A gigantic Merci to you all!
