True to our motto “Anyone can fly”, we have been having some amazing experiences with people who are unable to enjoy a few carefree hours in the Windwerk due to physical or mental disabilities. In the meantime we know: There are no limits! Together with Bine (founder of the Challenge Camps association and professional flyer), we therefore organize a free event once a quarter. We would like to offer people with disabilities or people who have suffered severe strokes of fate an unforgettable experience and thus fulfill a long-awaited dream.

During the sports vacations, we hosted a group from the Maurerschule in Winterthur. It looks after children and young people with physical and multiple disabilities and/or an autism spectrum disorder. This year’s vacation theme was “Superheroes” – from Batman and Superman to everyday superheroes such as the police, fire department, ambulance service and bus drivers. What impressed us during the application was that the supervisors consider their students to be the greatest superheroes because they master their lives with a wide variety of special features. They have to face numerous tasks every day, overcome many obstacles in everyday life, fight against being different and sometimes even fight for survival because their bodies are not healthy. Our invitation came at just the right time.

People with visual impairments have also already conquered our wind tunnel. We have developed a flight course tailored to their individual needs. You can watch the video on Instagram here: CLICK HERE!

And we have also had the pleasure of accompanying a group of young people suffering from muscular dystrophy into weightlessness. Muscular dystrophy is the overarching term for a group of very different, chronic diseases of the skeletal muscles that are accompanied by a progressive loss of functional muscle substance.

From arrival to departure, our team accompanies all participants and their companions throughout the entire visit. The briefing and flying is tailored to the special requirements. And we are also happy to help with tying shoes, braiding hair and anything else that needs doing. Thanks to the barrier-free architecture of the entire Windwerk, people in wheelchairs can easily reach every part of the building – right up to the entrance to the wind tunnel.

Interested parties can apply to us for the next events. All suitable applications end up in our lottery pot. Chance decides which institution or organization receives the next invitation.
